Spotlight on: Opening of an art gallery in Lebanon | Local

JEKYLL Gallery & Studio is now open at 45 E. Sherman St. in Lebanon.

The gallery is also the studio of artist Evan Degenfelder. It opened at the end of November and exhibits works by Degenfelder, Judi Mintzer and Maryann Ewing.

In space, you can see the studio of Degenfelder, an award-winning painter whose subjects include figures, landscapes, abstracts, and still lifes. She works mainly in oils but also creates in pastel, acrylic, cold wax and mixed media.

She is also the creator of a line of unique handcrafted jewelry. She collects rare and vintage antique and lucite glass beads, crystals and components, hand-blown hand-crafted glass beads and other rare finds, from which she creates heirloom-quality jewelry.

Degenfelder, a lifelong artist, studied at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and the University of California at Santa Barbara. She had a career as a graphic designer and illustrator for United Space Boosters, Inc. and the Lockheed Space Operations shuttle program before stopping to devote herself to art full time. She and her husband John have lived and worked in Lebanon since 2000.

Degenfelder plans to offer private and semi-private painting lessons. Those interested can send their name and contact details to [email protected]

The opening hours of the gallery are 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday.
