The Nicolaysen Art Museum holds a closing reception for the Sissy Goodwin exhibition


CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – The Nicolaysen Art Museum invites the Casper community to a TUTU PARTY on March 25 at 5:30 p.m. This party will be the closing reception of the exhibition. The Fabric of His Life, Larry Sissy Goodwin.

The exhibit honors the late Sissy Goodwin, a retired Vietnam veteran and educator from Douglas, who gained national attention for her admiration for wearing dresses.

“I think he’s a great example of just being yourself and being mindful of doing the things that make you feel good about yourself and leaving a positive impact on the world,” Katie Couch said. , responsible for the communication of the NIC.

The public is invited to join the TUTU PARTY at the Nicolaysen Art Museum on March 25 at 5:30 p.m. This party will be one of the last opportunities to see this exhibition.

“I look forward to seeing everyone – whether you’re wearing a TUTU or a petticoat or coming in your most comfortable clothes. Please join us as we celebrate Wyoming’s diversity,” the wife said. of the late Sissy Goodwin, Vickie Goodwin.

The NIC has invited any business or group in the state to celebrate with their own Tutu Party, even if they cannot make it to the NIC in Casper. Anyone who has ever celebrated Sissy in the same way is welcome.

“I thank the NIC for hosting a TUTU PARTY in honor of Sissy. This event was started in 2017 as a way to use humor to protest an unfortunate remark by a US Senator. and Let Live TUTU statewide showed Sissy and other LGBTQ Wyomingites that they are loved and supported,” Goodwin said.

The Discovery Center has organized a tutu-making activity available before the TUTU PARTY for museum visitors from March 22 to 25 during opening hours.

“This exhibit has been so well received by our community, it has been wonderful to work with Vickie Goodwin on this exhibit and honored to have the privilege of sharing Sissy’s story,” said Andy Couch, Executive Director of NIC .
